Mr. John Derrick, President
Potomac Electric Power Company
1900 Pennsylvania Ave. NW
Washington DC 20068
Dear Mr.
Derrick,
I oppose your plan to sell 1,300 acres
of Nanjemoy wilderness to be used for a surface mine.
The mine will cause irreparable damage to:
- bass fisheries;
- 57 million year old
fossils unique to North America;
- the habitat of rare
plants, animals, and birds;
- the critical area
zone through major construction, stockpiling, and
continual disruption;
- wetlands through
the placement and construction of the conveyor belt
system and load out basin;
- the existing peaceful
surrounding through excessive noise and dust.
Please be a responsible steward of our environment. Protect
this unique property by supporting its use as a public
park.
Sincerely,
