Lions Camp Merrick
Lions Camp Merrick, located in Nanjemoy, supports deaf, blind, and diabetic persons by providing outdoor summer camping experiences and memories to last a lifetime.

Home-bound elderly (65 and older) who cannot prepare their own meals to have the opportunity to receive a hot meal around the Noon hour Monday through Friday. It is also a volunteer opportunity. If anyone is interested either in receiving meals (we currently serve 19 clients) or volunteering to deliver meals, can call Mary Hancock, Volunteer Coordinator at (301) 743-2114.

WCCCA is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization that acts to enhance the quality of life of residents of Western Charles County. Its mission is to help people in need to secure quality family life, education, health care and other services and facilities that address basic human needs-and to empower and help equip them to act on their own behalf. Among numerous ongoing activites are repairs to homes and trailers; assistance to families facing emergencies of many kinds; help in dealing with various government agencies; educational support and recreational programs for children, and providing a wide variety of items needed and requested by indiviuals.

NANJEMOY HISTORY WRITERS -- COME ON OUT!
 
THE NANJEMOY HISTORY WRITERS  members are in their 8th year of working on a history of Nanjemoy.  We began in 1998.  Authors [former and new] are invited to join with the group.  Students in the local area are encouraged to write stories of local history and submit them to the group for the book.  Questions?  More information?  Call the History Lady at 301.246.4193; If the phone is not tended, please leave a message after the phone has finished ringing, and include your name and phone number. 

You can always send an email to the
History Lady at hurley@olg.com -- Plans are to begin our meetings again toward the end of November 2005.  The regular members will be notified by mail.  Each author chooses their own topics and works on them individually, between meetings or whenever.
